The rule in our house has always been that you have to wait until you are 8 to get your ears pierced. Erin has been excited and anxious to get hers done for a long time. I decided to take her about a month before her birthday so that by the time Christmas gets her she might be able to switch them out. She had picked out what earrings she wanted online so when we got there is was quick and painless (for my wallet at least). She was all smiles before the guns came out....
Still okay while getting her ears marked with a pen....
Then, just like that, smiles are gone and tears start pouring. I still don't know how people can do that to their babies. At least when they are 8, they make the choice themselves. She went into it knowing it would hurt and she still wanted to do it.
We walked straight over to Sizzler (at the District) to have dinner and that was a nice distraction.
Look how red her little ears are. And her shirt is wet from tears.
But, she did it and she loves them. We have been pulling her hair back every day so that she can see them when she looks in the mirror.
Next fight - wearing "dangley" earrings.
