I'm a Chevrolet Corvette!

"You're a classic - powerful, athletic, and competitive. You're all about winning the race and getting the job done. While you have a practical everyday side, you get wild when anyone pushes your pedal. You hate to lose, but you hardly ever do."

That's pretty funny. I took this quiz to find out what my personality is in comparison to a car. All I can say is thank heavens I'm not a mini van! Take the quiz yourself and find out what kind of car you are! http://www.tomorrowland.us/sportscar.

I am a SOCCER MOM!

Does it get any better than this? I think I can truly call myself a "soccer mom" when I spend all week sitting at the soccer field for practice and still look forward to the games on the weekend! I have an awesome soccer mom tan, too (very similar to a farmer tan). You should see the lines from my watch!

While our days and nights are very busy, I am loving being a mom more and more every day. (If you ask Jer, it's because I have been out "with the girls" for the last three weekends scrapbooking .. that's why I can say I love being a mom). We spend all but Monday nights at either soccer, tumbling or Scouts. And, I am sure it will only get crazier as life goes on. Jer just accepted a new calling on the Activity's Committee last Sunday so now we will be juggling things like church sports and the Annual Soup and Pie Social, too. How fun is that? (Ask Jer how fun that is next time you see him! He is so social.. he can't wait to get things rolling). But I know (as well as the Lord knows - obviously) that he is perfect for that calling. Word must've gotten out that he plays ball with the boys.. and that he is a fantastic cook. But, for him, it's all business.

I had to post these great pictures from Josh's game last Friday. Anyone that complains about sitting at a soccer game like this is crazy! It was a perfect 75 degrees outside with gorgeous rainbow across the valley. And to top it off, Josh scored his first goal of the season! He was all smiles! We are off to another game in about an hour (as soon as he gets home from a Scout activity) and today he is the starting keeper. He loves playing keeper (because he rocks), but man it's fun to score, too! His coach is awesome because he lets Josh have the best of both worlds. He usually plays Keeper one half and offense the other half.

Wish him luck at the Presidents Cup! It's next week. They will be playing four or five tournament games in addition to the league games. Good thing we love sitting on the soccer field!

After School Snack

Most days I don't put a whole lot into the "after school snack" for my kids. In fact, I don't put a whole lot into dinner. But, on occasion, I get a little itch to be domestic. I guess I am kind of an all or nothin' kind of girl.
I had promised Josh that when I had time to do freezer jam, I would bake a loaf of bread too so that he could have the warm jam on a warm slice of homemade bread. Keep in mind, this is the kid that eats crab legs, ribs, steak, creme brule, and sushi. He has been kind of spoiled with his exposure to new and exciting food. So, what does a kid like that have for an after school snack? Homemade bread with homemade jam. Never just a rice crispy treat or cookie from the cookie jar. That would be too easy.

Jer has been going to Brigham City (a lot) lately for work. So, every time he goes, I ask him to stop and get me peaches. What is this world coming to? Peaches have been sparse in Brigham City this year! This last week, he did come home with a bushel (not a case). And, I was able to get a few jars of freezer jam out of them. I read my friend Stephanie's blog the other day and couldn't believe it! She did four batches of jam, eleven quarts of peaches and one peach cobbler. I guess I am going to have to move to Colorado if I want 37 lbs. of peaches!

HAPPY DOUBLE DIGITS

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to Josh! He is officially ten (going on twenty). He got a HUGE Star Wars behind the scenes book, a nerf gun, ten dollars in quarters, and an RC green machine. The kid is happy! I checked him out of school today and took him to lunch. He had a party Friday night with his best buddies (Zach and Matthew). They played PS3 and Wii all night and ate Chinese food. He has pretty much been partying since then. Isn't that how it works? Your birthday falls on a Monday so you start Friday and go till the next Sunday? Like what? Ten days or so? I guess if it's your tenth birthday.

Check our proofs...

On August 23, the B's had family pictures taken. I can't do a slide show on my blog until we get the disc. So, I thought for anyone that is interested, you can go to http://legend.zenfolio.com/p557391520 to see the proofs on the photographers web site. (click on slide show once you get there to see all of them) Our photographer is Tyson Egbert. He is a friend of Jer's. He did an awesome job. He stayed for two hours and got some great candids along with the posed pictures.

The Utah State Fair

There are only two years that Jer and I have ever missed the State Fair in the last twelve. First, in 1998, Josh was born so we spent the week of the fair in the hospital. And second, in 2002, we were in California celebrating Josh's fourth birthday with Mickey Mouse.

So, here we are in 2008, and it is more fun than ever. Everything is better with kids. (Okay - you got me, not everything.) Holidays, vacations, Disney Movies, parades, and the State Fair.. those are some of my favorite things with my kids. When I was a kid, I remember going to the fair and just taking everything in. I remember seeing The Jets in concert (does that age me?). And, at that concert, the whole Osmond family was sitting in the front row. I remember (very well) my mom freaking out over The Osmonds.. not The Jets. When I went to the fair as a teenager/adult, I started to enjoy the photography, the home grown produce, the quilts, and the entertainment. Now, I simply enjoy watching my kids take everything in.

I'm sure you all know by now that Emma is my nature girl. It has most definitely rubbed off on Erin, but Erin is not as fearless as Emma. Emma has never hesitated to pick up a worm or chase a stray kitty. One of my favorite pictures of Emma is of her sitting at a lake up by the cabin watching all the fishermen. She could be entertained for hours with that sort of thing. So, while we were all at the fair Friday night, I wanted to especially share with you my Emma at the fair. You'd have thought we were in a candy store!
